"Temenos: is a Greek word meaning sacred space. It connotes a sheltered space, a place where one can search, quest, journey, examine, and re-examine while protected from the habitual routines of the outside world".

For the past 30 years I have searched both inwardly and outwardly in hopes of learning, touching and experiencing temenos. What follows are moments of temenos. In my studio at Herndon I have created what I feel is a slice of temenos. A space woven in the confines of a public school; As you walk through the doorway (gateway) a giant fountain greets the young artist. The water washes away the dust of the hallway and cleanses the soul to see clearer. Soothed in the temenos the souls takes flight and expresses the collective immages.

Below are some recent sites that I have been reading....The relation between art therapy and the temenos is slowly unfolding thanks to the unending work of Roberta Shoemaker and her husband.
